1890'S RIBBED IVORY SILK TWO PIECE GOWN, MUTTON, GIGOT SLEEVES, RUFFLES

Description

This is a two piece 1890's gown. In a ribbed, ivory colored silk, it has huge, "mutton" or "gigot", sleeves, is boned and lined (with cotton) and fastens at the sides and neck with hidden hooks and eyes. There is organdy trim beneath the large pouffed sleeve, this is splitting, however.
The skirt is flat in front, with gathers at the center back. It's also lined with cotton, has a nice, lace-trimmed pleated organdy ruffle all the way around the hem. It fastens with two brass hooks and eyes.
Color is a delicate, off white or ivory silk, the fabric with a ribbed texture.
The pleated organdy trim is 139" in circumference, and is in very good condition. I don't see any splits or discoloration.
The bodice is 30 1/2" around at the waist, 29 3/4" around at the bust.
The skirt measures 28" around at the waist, it's 44" long in front, 59" in back, giving it a nice train.
In good condition, with some damage to both underarms, which I have pictured above.
The left underarm has a 1 1/2" x 1/2" split, with some slight discoloration, 3-4 small stress splits to the section of the bodice that fastens near the underarm, (last pic).
The other underarm has a 3" x 4" with some splitting, light discoloration. The organdy trim below the wide sleeves is splitting. I would just leave it, maybe steaming it to straighten it out, I don't think it looks terrible.
There is a small brownish spot on the back, right shoulder, one, 1/4" frayed spot to the right of it.
The skirt has one, 1/4" split, with two brownish spots near it, in the back, also shown in the photos. There is a 5" x 3" water spot underneath one of the silk bows. The bow hides most of it, this could be arranged and sewn down to hide most, if not all, of the affected area.
The cotton lining has some discoloration, maybe a handprint and a half-sized area of a light to medium water type discoloration, this doesn't show through to the outside.
A nice gown, with dramatic, wide sleeves that would make a very nice display.
