For sale,
a near mint and massive 450 lb Firminy ‘rhino pig’ anvil, the largest of this pattern that I’ve ever had.
It is in great shape, with clean edges and a nearly unblemished face.
It has the signature ‘pig feet’ which help to free up mass from the base and apply it to a 7.75” wide face, which has excellent rebound.
The horn begins rising further back in the face, offering a nearly infinite amount of radii to work with, while still leaving plenty of flat face to forge on.
The maker mark can be seen and there is a 1911 datemark.
There is a little welding spatter on the tip of the horn but no big deal
