This one has the matte grey back, not smooth black or white porcelain as most all original old porcelain signs. There are also two photos of the back of one of this type which would have had the Ande Rooney paper label as shown. This one DOES NOT have the paper, I sold that one a while ago.
I showed these two photos so one can see what some crooks remove to hide the fact it is a fake new sign.

This is not a standard size sign, but just 7" by 21". The original 1930's to 1940's light steel, painted sign this was copied after was 16" by 48" I believe.
This one has Day One gloss and shine. It SHOULD BE! It was just made about in 1999 to 2001!
Some even attempt to make these look old by beating them to chip paint especially around grommets, soaking in water, and then burying them to try to have some rust appear at least in spots. Then they try to sell them as "Originals"! However, a huge flaw in that theory.
There NEVER was an original porcelain Vernor's sign made in this design image of the "Detroit Skyline"
as anyone with a couple years experience in signs knows. Just a well duplicated fake design, without paying attention to the details of the originals, such as size, color, and weight.
The last four photos show a real 10" by 30" 1950's heavy steel kick plate door sign, and a small painted metal fake with Gnome (and either a gold or white painted back) being sold on eBay right now, for size comparison.
