White became a celebrity in England in April of 1910 when he competed with French pilot Louis Paulhan for the 10,000 prize offered by the Daily Mail newspaper for the first flight between London and Manchester in under 24 hours. Some of White's other famous flights include a 1910 duration flight in England for 1hr 23 minutes, winning a 1910,Aviation Cup race in New York and a famous flight in Washington D.C were he landed his plane by the White House. In 1911 he established a flying school and during World War I he set up a aerial defense around the city of Washington. Listed for auction is desirable vintage postcard signed by Claude Graham White.
