Edwardian Black Net Silk Ribbon Embroidered French Knot Floral Polka Dot Dress
This vintage Edwardian era black net silk ribbon embroidered French knot floral polka dot dress dates from 1915. It is made of a black sheer tulle net fabric, with silk ribbon raised padded satin stitch embroidery work, French knot hand embroidered stamen flowers and polka dots. This beautiful black dress has been upcycled, remade in the 1940s into a cocktail dress with a shortened skirt below the knee length fitted style, black satin pleated cummerbund attached belted waist with stays boning sewn inside, short handkerchief hem sleeves, snap closures on the back outer net fabric and has been relined in a black satin fabric underdress with back zipper closure. The dress measures 45 inches long, with a 40 inch bust, 26 inch waist, 42 inch hips and 17 inch back. It is in good condition with some small mended repairs on the net shoulders. This is truly a wonderful piece of wearable art!
