Here is a very nice fossil fish Priscacara, from the world-famous fossil beds of Fossil Lake, Green River Formation, Wyoming.  From the Eocene, 52  million years ago.
The Priscacara measures about 7.5 inches from tip to tip.  The plate it is on measures about 12.65" by 11.7" and weighs about 4 lbs. 12.6 lbs. The plate is about 10 mm. thick.
The fins on this fish are wonderful, especially the spectacular dorsal fins, which stick out quite a ways. The natural coloration is excellent, too.
There is almost no touch-up on this specimen.  It has been lightly coated with a clear protectant.
If you carefully hold the plate so that the light makes shadows on it, you can see the remnants of another fish, just above the Priscacara  (photo 9).
This is a superior example of this very popular species from the ancient lake.
