This is a very attractive fossil fish. This is large Priscacara serrata from the Green River Formation of Wyoming. This fine specimen was found by Steve Hess in 2008. The distinct fish exhibits wonderful detail - the bone structure is preserved, and the fins and tail well preserved, especially the impressive dorsal fin. The eye socket of the fish is clearly defined, the open mouth is easily seen, and even the scale pattern is quite noticeable. The striking fish has great, natural orange-brown color that contrasts beautifully with the cream-colored matrix. The classic fossil fish is well centered and wonderfully showcased on the rectangular plate of shale that has been professionally framed for optimal display! This is a very collectible and displayable example of a fossil Priscacara fish with its dorsal fin intact from the Fossil Lake Deposits.
