    Description

Fossil feather( 0.35", 0.9 cm) with insect (0.13", 0.34 cm) from the Florissant Formation. From Teller County Colorado. 34 Million Years Old. Feather fossils are exceptionally rare.
Found on private land just outside Florissant Fossil Beds National Monument. This area contains some of the best-preserved fossil leaves and insects in the world.
These fossils have been preserved because of the interaction of the volcanic ash from the nearby volcano and the lake the animals and plants lived in.
