    This is a large, well-preserved fossil fish,
    Diplomystus dentatus
    , from the famous 18 inch layer of the Green River Formation of Fossil Lake, near Kemmerer, Wyoming. It dates from the Eocene, 50 million years ago.
    This fish measures 7.0 inches long and 1.9 inches wide. The entire specimen is in a matrix of calcite is 9.55 inches long 6.95 inches wide and 0.55 inches thick. The fossil has been preserved professionally. The fish has been stabilized and color enhanced.
