    This is a large, well-preserved, fossil fish -
    Diplomystus dentatus
    , from the famous 18 inch layer of the Green River Formation of Fossil Lake, near Kemmerer, Wyoming. It dates from the Eocene, 50 million years ago.
    This fish measures 9.0 inches long and 2.55 inches wide. The entire specimen is in a matrix of calcite is 13.0 inches long 6.2 inches wide and 1.0 inches thick. The fossil has been colored and preserved professionally.
