    Description

    This is a well-preserved fossil fish,
    Miolplosus labracoides
    from the famous Green River Formation of Kemmerer, Wyoming. They date from the Eocene, 50 million years ago.
    This Mioplosus is extremely well-preseved with skin and bones visible. It is 7.0 inches long and 1.7 inches wide at its widest. The entire specimen is in a matrix of calcite from the gastropod layer- which is above the 18 inch layer. The entire plate is 10.75 inches long,  6.3 inches wide and 0.55 inches thick. The fossils have been preserved professionally and color enhanced. The teeth are extremely well-preserved.
