Knightia are herring closely related to the modern herring Clupea. The Knightia is by far the most common fish found in the Green River fossil quarries in Wyoming, U.S.A.
The fish is 1 7/8" long on a 3 3/4" by 3 1/4" plate.
Green River formation
Eocene Period, 40 Million years ago.
