INDICIA : as these were " secret books " published for for Mason members who had achieved a high level / degree , NO publisher is listed and NO author credit is listed.
AUTHOR : attribution for authorship of these 3 tomes has long been credited to ALBERT PIKE. Pike was a Brigadier General in the Confederate Army during the Civil War. He was also a high ranking member of the Masons. In 1859 he was elected Sovereign Grand Commander of the Scottish Rite's Southern Jurisdiction. He remained Sovereign Grand Commander for the rest of his life, devoting a large amount of his time to developing the rituals of the Order.
VINTAGE : Lacking indicia , no date of publication is listed in these books. However, established bibliophiles date these books as having been published in the 1890s.
EXTERIOR CONDITION : Gold gilt TITLES on the front of the books are still bright / strong / legible. Gold gilt edging on the top of the interior pages. Hardbound covers retain much of their original color but the cover edges and the spine area on all 3 books exhibit noticeable sun/age fade in these areas . See our photos.
INTERIOR CONDITION of Pages : Complete, Unmarked ( no markings ), Tight spines with no loose or torn pages.
