HUGE Museum Quality 17.5" Diplomystus Fossil Fish (Custom Case) Green River....
This is a beautiful 17.5" Diplomystus from the green river formation in Wyoming. A museum quality specimen with excellent preservation and preparation. The fossil plate is 22"×12.5" while the case is 27.5"×15.25"×3.3". The case is a quality custom wooden enclosure that is lockable. The case is made to lay flat on a table or stand. The fossil and case weighs 40 pounds. A truly outstanding specimen that I am happy to offer!
Diplomystus dentatus was a species from the Green River formation and was related to current day herring. They were surface feeders with a diet consisting of smaller fish like Knightia.
The glass appears to have a protective uv tint. There are two small scratches on the glass which can only be seen at an extreme angle. I have included a photo.
