    Description

Paddlefish (Crossopholis) 21.5" Fossil Fish "Green River Formation" W/Case
This is an extremely rare paddlefish (Crossopholis) fossil from the Green river formation in Wyoming. The crossopholis is one of the rarest described species in the formation, making this a once in a lifetime specimen. A coprilite (fossil poop) can be seen just behind the tail. The paddlefish is 21.5" long while the surrounding matrix is 29"×9.25". The fossil is housed in a custom built case measuring 31.5"×12". It's that's made to sit on a table or stand. The paddlefish fossil and case weigh approximately 42 pounds.
This Crossopholis is prepared well. There is some fin/head restoration and matrix crack fills. This is normal for paddlefish as they have minimal bones and are mostly cartilage so preserve poorly. The paddlefish was excavated in two pieces and rejoined professionally.
This is an incredible specimen that I am happy to offer!
