    Description

The MINI Wood-Fired Forge—a heavy duty forge at a lightweight price!
Whitlox Homestead created the Mini Forge to answer the need for an inexpensive forge for getting started or for smiths who take their set up to events and want something more mobile. Like the fullsize Whitlox Wood-Fired Forge, the MINI is constructed of 11 gauge steel, lined with kaowool and firebricks to keep heat in and preserve the steel. The compact size (16"x16"x9") is ideal for many projects. The inside length of the firebed is 9".
What really makes this forge a rock star is that it allows you to blacksmith with scrap wood--either raw, or made into traditional charcoal. Any kind of dry wood, cut fine, will give you the heat you need!
The trench shape focuses the charcoal--and the heat--at the draft line. The draft is delivered through a simple non-adjustable vented tube.
LISTING IS FOR FORGE ALONE, NO BLOWER OR STAND.
    What other buyers have said:
Very well designed, and fun to use!!
This forge is incredible!!! First of all, the shipping was very fast. Assembly was very simple, and everything fit together perfectly. It is obvious that a great deal of thought went in to such a refined finished product!! I built my own hood with a removable door on the back, to make heating the centers of longer projects possible. Starting a fir
e is simple, and as advertised, the “V” design makes managing the fire relatively straight-forward. With my first attempt at forging, I was easily able to get to a yellow heat. Be prepared, as this little forge will eat through a lot of wood rather quickly, even with a small 50 CFM squirrel cage blower. It is so much fun to use, you won’t want to stop mid-project to get more fuel!! EXCELLENT product (and no soot)!!!!! Thank you Whitlox Homestead!!!!!!!
    The model of efficiency
Whoever designed this forge is an absolute genius. Most people wouldn't believe it but smiths actually spend a considerable amount of time scraping cokes to the center of their forge. It's time consuming and a lot fuel gets wasted. The way this is set up totally alleviated the need for all that nonsense. The draft tube itself is nice and rugged an
d all I have to do is drop a grade 10 bolt in one or two of the holes if I'm getting too much draft. It's well built well and EXTREMELY mobile, therefore perfect for shows. I love the kaowool you use, it's stout enough to protect the forge and there's not so much of it that it takes the forge itself forever to cool down. The heat distribution in the Whitlox is "perfect" for lack of a better word. 5 minutes with an electric blower to start things off and I was hammering away, only having to use the bellows now and then. It was getting enough heat to draw out steel for a good 30-40 seconds at a time without burning it. Another great thing about this forge is that there is virtually NO cleanup. When I'm done, all I have to do hook up the electric blower on medium for a few minutes and the ashes are literally scattered to the wind. I sweep at the end of each day a noticed a considerable difference. That ash/dust pile was half of what it normally is from my old forge. The absolute best thing about this forge (aside from getting rid of the clink) is that I have 6 and half acres of fuel for it. (Woo Hoo!) Thanks Whitlox.
    Excellent Product!
I purchased the mini forge after reading about it online. It has exceeded all my expectations. I use it almost every weekend, and so far with over 70 weekends of use, the fire bricks and frame are still in great shape. Great product!
    Mini Forge
I purchased the mini-forge and I have to say it works better than described. The temperatures reached were enought to burn through some rebar that i left too long in the forge. I have been using scrap 2x4's that i cut up and they work great. I have to say it is definitely worth the price.
    Thanks for a great product.
