Description
Reynolds Chambers Contempora Double French Horn #55775, Refurbished, New Protec Max Case, Blessing 11 MouthpieceJames Chambers, principal horn of the New York Philharmonic, commissioned the Reynolds Instrument Company of Cleveland, Ohio to produce a professional level double French Horn to replace his Conn; it debuted in 1958 and was produced through 1961. It featured a .18" thick bell, giving it a wider dynamic range than was commonly available.
The 55775 serial number places this horn's production in 1959. Its inside valve casings and slides have been recently (October, 2020) sonically cleaned and polished, valves restrung and aligned with new bumpers.
The horn is in excellent vintage condition and plays with ease and authority.
Included is a Blessing 11 2.5" mouthpiece and a new Protec Max (soft, with reinforced bell) case.
Pictured wooden guitar stand (!) is NOT included.
Horn weighs approximately 5.8 lbs.
