SUPERB ORIG ANTIQUE VICTORIAN 1890 GIBSON GIRL LEG O MUTTON LACE DRESS JACKET

The most magnificent Victorian end of the era, 1890s jacket I have had the pleasure of owning. It is rare to find a jacket, but a jacket of this quality and style is extraordinary!! I believe it was created as a spring jacket and could have been worn in the daytime or in the evening. It is completely created with netted lace that is absolutely fabulous; lined with buttery ivory silk. The only closure is at the top; hidden hooks/eyes and very interesting large "doo dad" with dangling ivory cotton cord that has knots intertwined along with
and lace pieces folded in half
and tiny balls at the ends. The incredible sleeves are very wide, not quite as wide as some Leg O Mutton yet very balloon shaped. Please take note to the photos of the 3" wide sleeve cuffs and the 5.5" hanging lace: they are just as beautiful as the rest of the jacket. In excellent condition; I have Not found any broken brides in the lace itself. It has some very light brown toning that would be from age. The lining has a few short slit at the top on the shoulders closer to the neck. I acquired this magnificent jacket many years ago from a very wealthy estate along with a few other items that I am listing in the next few weeks; it has been in a climate controlled environment since I acquired it.
It is not a tiny size; it fits my mannequin a size 6 perfectly,however, I am not guaranteeing to fit a today's size 6.  Approx measurements are 16" shoulder to shoulder, 38" bust, 48" waist, 58" hips, 29" mid shoulder to hem and 24.5" sleeves from shoulder seam to end of cuff (Not the end of the lace). Truly a delightful acquisition for any serious collector!
