VICTORIAN ANTIQUE 1850s PRE CIVIL WAR GOWN FAB TRIM & SLEEVE DESIGN DRESS BODICE

Description

A fabulous rare to find, original Pre Civil War 1850s to early 1860s ball gown bodice that is meticulously machine and hand stitched.  Created in a luxurious shade of banana yellow silk taffeta and lined with high quality ivory silk. The extraordinary bodice is constructed with 8/9 stays which are each individually encased along with having thick bust padding. Faux closure of 11 hand tatted covered buttons that match the gold shade of the cording trim on the hem of the cap sleeves.
There is a possibility that
it once had lace or trim sewn around the neckline which is no longer with it as it has a few stray stitches around the neck and plunging V front.
The actual closing is inner hooks/eyes and outer hooks / thread eyes.  Exquisite light yellow and canary yellow
delicate
soutache and narrow fine filigree cotton cording trim on the cap sleeves while the sleeve just below the elbow is cute open with taupe folded sheer chiffon exposed the skin. This delightful gown is in very rare to find, excellent condition.
Overall in extremely very sound, very sturdy very clean condition. Approx measurements are in the box above this description.
