Vintage 1930's Wine Silk Rayon Velvet and Rhinestone Evening Dress - Deco Gown

Beautiful vintage 1930's evening dress in a sumptuous wine colored silk and rayon blend velvet, accented with rhinestones. Bodice features princess seaming, pointed high waist, elegant drop shoulder line with heavy gathers, puffed three-quarter length sleeves with ties at fitted cuff, and functional rhinestone hooks down center back. Full length bias skirt with straight center front panel. Includes original wide self belt with decorative stitching and Deco rhinestone buckle, signed D. Greenbaum. Inset silk chiffon modesty panel behind rhinestone hooks at bodice back.

This dress was purchased from an estate and was part of a bridal trousseau stored in a cedar chest over the years. This chest also held a stunning 1930's cobalt blue rayon crepe and rhinestone evening gown (currently listed for sale) and a 1930's ivory satin wedding gown (to be sold at a later date). The condition of this dress is excellent for the age, with only minor flaws to note. There are some minor spots of pressed pile overall (most conspicuous are at shoulder tops and center waist front where belt buckle falls). Skirt has some small thin spots/minor spots of pile loss on lower portion and a couple little pinhead holes at hem edge (seen when fabric is held to the light). There are a couple small places along back waist seam where fabric has pulled away (seam is still intact). This dress has not been cleaned and is sold as-found. The underside of fabric has some areas of soiling on one sleeve and above hem, and some light underarm odor was detected when fabric was warmed with breath (I do this so there are no surprises).
The rhinestone buckle has some discolored and missing stones, and one of the small squares on which the hooks secure is bent, but still functional.
