    Matsumoku Industrial of Matsumoto/Nagano,
    Japan, was a
manufacturer of many different types of mass produced
quality stringed instruments from the mid 1950's until 1987.
Matsumoku manufactured acoustic steel string, classical,
electric bass & electric guitars. As well as violins, banjos,
mandolins& ukuleles, among other instruments. Matsumoku
was involved in producing either entire guitars or parts for many
well known guitar brands such as Aria, Epiphone, Vox, Hondo,
Nippon Gakki (Yamaha), Hoshino Gakki (Ibanez), FujiGen Gakki,
Norlin (Gibson), Guyatone & Kanda Shokai (Greco). Many American
companies contracted Matsumoku to build their guitars. That list includes:
Washburn, Univox, Westbury, Electra, J.C. Penney (Skylark),
Memphis, Vantage, Westminister, C.G. Winner, Cutler, Lyle & Fell.
This list reflects Matsmoku's involvement but many of the names on the
above list were later sold to other companies, which made guitars that were
completely different in quality and sound. That might be where the Teisco
connection is that so many other sellers are quick to mention. However, in
doing my research, I could not find a direct connection between the Conqueror
brand & Teisco. Information is spotty at best & I'm not here to debate any one
company's involvement or lack thereof but I do welcome any solid information
that could be verified. Most of my research has been on Wikipedia & a couple of other sites.
