Vintage 1960s 60s Short-Sleeve Sheath Dress in Black Silk - sm

Description

From the very early 1960s (evidence suggests 1961 exactly), a smart little sheath dress with its original belt.
Short sleeves with underarm gussets
Bust and vertical darts
Slim skirt is fully lined, back walking slit has modesty inset
Back metal zipper closure
Original belt included
Made in the U.S.A.
Note that the dress is deep jet black. Photos have been lightened slightly to show details.

Only the tiniest bit of a tag remains, but the RN#25681 clearly visible tells us the manufacturer name (and also that the earliest year this dress can be from is 1959, when the first RN# was issued). The cut, construction, and advertisements pinpoint its vintage to 1961.
