Edwardian Embroidered White Linen Spiderweb Crochet Cluny Bobbin Lace Dress
This antique Edwardian era embroidered white linen spiderweb crochet cluny bobbin lace dress dates from 1910. It is made of a white linen fabric with raised padded satin stitch hand embroidery whitework accents, handmade cluny bobbin lace with geometric designs, pointed wheatears joined by braided plaits, woven net spiderweb lace cobweb medallion inserts, drawn thread cut work details and raised 3D crochet flowers, grapes applique accents. There is a unique patchwork variety of amazing assembled decorative whitework laces and trimmings. This lovely lace dress has a long tea length full skirt, with long full sleeves, hook closures on the back, is lined inside the top only with a cream silk fabric and the skirt is sheer, unlined. The dress is a large size measuring 52 inches long, with a 38 inch bust, 32 inch waist, 48 inch hips, 16 inch long sleeves and a 16 inch back. It is in good condition, with a break in the connecting bride bars lace on the back waist and a small faint black ink mark on the front top (see close-ups). This is truly a rare and exquisite piece of antique handmade lace whitework wearable art!
