    Description
    This listing is for a classic VINTAGE 1950's Designer Fit & Flare Party dress by Madeleine Fauth exclusively for Saks Fifth Avenue. Style 839 and Size 9 per attached tag which is probably an XS size. Fabric is probably Silk, it has a texture so possibly "Slub Silk Fabric", it is black with a Rose Pink "splatter" of dots or "Bubbles" all over. Cap sleeves with a scoop neckline and has a beautiful Lattice "Zig-Zag" or "X" detail front and back. Has a hidden 11" metal zipper with a top hook and eye and has 2 hidden side pockets.
    The dress has appropriate darts on bustline. Dress has plenty of pleating at the waist and so is very fitted but flares into the full skirt nicely. The hem has a bias tape finish and dress is unlined.
    Madeleine Fauth began designing in the 1930s, her dresses from the 1950's often featured full skirts, princess seaming and she was known for using silk.
    We did some measuring.
    The back length of the dress from the neckline to the hem is 36"
    The front length of the dress from the neckline to the hem is 40"
    The shoulder to the hem is 44"
    The length from the waist to the hem is 29 1/2"
    Waist is 24"
    Back shoulder to shoulder is 13 1/2"
    Across the front chest/bust 16"
    Hip is FULL
    This great dress it not new and has probably been worn. I see no obvious wear issues. This has NO odor and is from a smoke-free home. This classic 50's style dress is in Very Good condition and tailoring details are quite impressive. It will need to be cleaned and pressed. I did find one very tiny flaw in fabric, back mid-skirt left of zipper (see my pics #10 & 11). The fabric hanger straps inside both shoulders are worn and unraveling.
